The IEF monitors fires, protects forest reserves, etc. and has 26 offices in the state of Rondônia. Carlos comments on Incra's 1972 colonization project, the incentive to plant fruit and native trees, the creation of an environmental protection fund, illegal logging in indigenous areas, biological and forest reserves. Carlos also comments on the limits imposed by FUNAI on operations in indigenous areas, and mentions Planaflora, RO's agro-ecological zoning plan to continue and replace the Northwest Pole.
